Intro Recipes

Ingredients:

Carrots - 1kg

Salt - 1 tbls

water - 750ml

Procedure:

Select small or baby carrots as it will be easily digested than the bigger ones.

Wash the carrots and peel the skin. May be in the later stages you can leave the skin unpeeled for the baby carrots. Cut the carrots into big pieces.

The carrots can be cooked in different ways. I have given four ways of doing it of which boiling and steaming methods are time consuming. You can use any of these or your own method for cooking the carrots.

Cooking the carrots in a bowl in the pressure cooker:

Add the carrots in a separate bowl and pour water. The water can be 3/4 of the level of the carrots in the bowl. Add little salt.

Pour little water in the cooker and keep the bowl inside the cooker. Close the bowl with a lid or plate and close the cooker. Allow it to cook until the steam comes. Then put the 'pressure vent weight' and allow to cook in very medium flame for 20mins or until the carrots are soft.

Cooking the carrots directly in a pressure cooker:

Add the carrots directly in the cooker and pour the water up to 3/4th the level of the carrot and add salt. Close the cooker lid and allow it to cook until the steam comes. Then put the 'pressure vent weight' and allow to cook in very medium flame for 20mins or until they are tender. 

Boiling the carrots:

Pour enough water in a saucepan and bring to boil. Then add the carrots and needed salt. Allow it to boil in medium heat until they are tender.

Steaming the carrots:

Cut the carrots into small pieces. Add the cut pieces in a steamer or on the plates of the idly cooker. Allow it to steam until soft. Then transfer the cooked carrots into a bowl and sprinkle some salt if needed.

If you have cooked the carrots in a pressure cooker, strain the water and cut it into small pieces.
